LAHORE: The three-day 13th National Puppet Festival by Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop will kick off at Rafi Peer Cultural Centre, Raiwind Road, on 3Ist March.

The festival has been a regular feature of the cultural calendar of Lahore for the last 13 years. It celebrates puppeteers and storytellers who narrate folk stories and sing folk songs.

Some seven or so groups are participating in the festival this year, including Asghar Bahawalpur Puppet Theatre, Folk Puppet Theatre, PNCA Puppet Theatre, Alhamra Puppet Theatre, Rafi Peer Puppet Show and Magic Plus juggling show.

The festival will be opened amid great festivity by leaving balloons and pigeons in the air to the beat of dhol (drum) and other music instruments. A large number of puppetry fanciers are expected to attend the festival.
