BAHAWALPUR: A youth was killed on Wednesday when a gas cylinder exploded during decanting at Dhanote town near Lodhran, some 30km from here.

According to police, a shopkeeper, Haq Nawaz, was busy in decanting when a gas cylinder exploded, claiming life of Muhammad Nasir (17), who was sitting there. After the incident, Nawaz fled the scene.

On being informed of the incident, Dhanote police arrived at the spot and shifted the dead body to Lodhran District Headquarters Hospital.

The police registered a case against Haq Nawaz.

Meanwhile, two personnel of the National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) sustained injuries when their vehicle collided with a bullock cart near Nasir Khan Chowk on the National Highway.

They were stated to be out of danger.
