Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday claimed that Nawaz Sharif has made a deal with former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Zardari to save himself in the ongoing Panamagate corruption case.

While addressing a press conference at his residence in Islamabad, Khan said, "I have no doubt left that Nawaz and Zardari have cut a deal, and that is why Zardari and Sharjeel Memon have returned to Pakistan while Dr Asim Hussain and Ayyan Ali were set free."

The PTI chairman added that the deal is behind Sharif announcing projects in Sindh while Zardari is in Lahore.

"PPP is now repeating history, returning the favour that PML-N did to them by remaining silent for four years," Khan said.

Khan added that when PTI's dharna was underway, "Zardari was invited to Raiwind and a lavish meal was prepared for him to save democracy".

"Now I just saw on the news that Zardari gave a statement that Nawaz won the 2013 election because of massive rigging and this time around the PPP will make sure history does not repeat itself," Khan said.

Khan said the two parties are not “uniting for democracy but to hide each others corruption”.

"They are both trying to save each other as they both have money laundering charges against them," Khan said.

"Both of them are afraid that if the Tehreek-i-Insaf comes into power they would actually be held accountable for all the damage they have done to the country," Khan claimed.

"I did not plan to criticise the PPP today but any Pakistani who is concerned about the country would wonder why a man who has allegedly received billions through corruption was set free." said the PTI chairman while discussing today's development in the Dr Asim case.

An anti-terrorism court today issued a release order for former federal minister and PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain in a case relating to the alleged treatment of terrorists at his hospital.

Dr Asim was booked on the complaint of Rangers for allegedly treating and harbouring suspected terrorists, militants and gangsters at the North Nazimabad and Clifton branches of his hospital at the behest of some MQM and PPP leaders.

Earlier today, the Sindh High Court granted bail to Dr Asim in two corruption references filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on the submission of surety bonds worth Rs5 million.
