The Lux Style Awards’ nominations for 2017 have been announced. And some people aren’t happy. One of them is a director whose film (the one that has Mahira Khan in a small band) did alright at the box office, but the music of the film was pretty top-notch. The director is livid that his movie has been ignored in multiple categories, including music. Even his lead actor has been overlooked.

This brings us to an important issue. While the fashion categories are being judged by a jury, the best performances in film and TV are being judged by viewers’ choice. Really? Why the double standards? Anyway, as usual, the categories cover last year’s best performances in the fields of fashion, film, music and television. There are no fewer than 28 categories (whoosh) and contain almost the who’s who of the country’s showbiz fraternity. This means it’s going be a long, long night, especially for those who will not win.
