SIALKOT: A man allegedly killed one of his daughters and seriously injured another on Wednesday with a sharp-edged weapon over a dispute of wanting to marry men of their choice.

Later, Muhammad Siddique allegedly suffered a heart attack and died on the spot in the congested Harrar-Muradpur locality.

Saba, 22, and Anam, 20, allegedly wanted to marry men of their choice and their father was opposed to the idea.

Dies of heart attack soon afterwards

On Wednesday, the girls were sleeping in their room when Siddique entered and attacked them repeatedly with a sharp-edged weapon, killing Saba on the spot and injuring Anam. The injured was shifted to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital in a critical condition.

Police claimed that Siddique suffered a severe heart attack after the incident and died on the spot. His wife Shehnaz Kausar told police that her husband was a diabetic and high blood pressure patient, who suffered a severe heart attack.

Police shifted the bodies to hospital for autopsy.

Shehnaz told police that Saba wanted to marry her neighbour, who had sent a proposal through his family, but Siddique had rejected the proposal twice.

On the report of Shehnaz, Muradpur police registered a case under sections 324 and 302 of the PPC and started an investigation.
