PCB's inquiry committee will visit UK to question Nasir Jamshed, says official

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials said on Tuesday that PCB's inquiry committee will travel to UK to investigate the matter of Nasir Jamshed's involvement in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal.

While talking to DawnNews, a PCB official said that a two-member inquiry committee has been formed to question Jamshed.

It is pertinent to mention that the board had suspended Jamshed on the suspicion of being involved in the spot fixing scandal that shook PSL.

According to the official, PCB`s anti-corruption unit chief Col (retd) Azam and board's legal manager Salman Naseer will travel to UK to investigate the matter as soon as they receive their visa confirmation.

According to media reports Jamshed was investigated by National Crime Agency in UK and his passport was withheld by the authorities when he was granted bail.

PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan had accused Jamshed of having contacts with English bookies and introducing the two main accused in the PSL scandal to a fixer.

Shahryar Khan claimed Jamshed was the one who introduced Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif to a bookie under the pretext that he was a fan.

Bookies from around the world had been eyeing the PSL, and that PCB had kept an eye on certain players from the beginning of the tournament, the PCB chairman had said.

its good to put their names on ECL ! but we need similar action for some of our prominent leaders who have high-end properties abroad and their financial corruption cases are in courts.

When confirmed and most consistent corrupt politicians are spared and garlanded back after years in self exile, why the first time tripped players be any exception? We must have some faith in self respect and be fair in dealing every corruption equally.

PCB will question them and ask. Why did you get caught?. That is your crime you got caught, maybe these young players need advise from old and senier players how not to get caught. There are plenty we know that betrayed their prople their country and their deligion for a few pieces of silver but got away.

Col (R) and another member travelling to the UK to question Nasir Jamshed there? Is this an investigative or a pleasure trip? Could not Nasir Jamshed be called to Pakistan, questioned and put on ECL? This trip is by itself an example of corruption.

To investigate 1 man, they are sending 2 men to UK. How productive is that! Can't they call him to Pakistan? Yes they can but that will ruin the chance to visit UK for our PCB officials.

It's a waste of money and time. When you can easily ask him through Skype or calls. Anyhow, corrupt politicians will keep enjoying. There should be punishment for those who make the system, not for those who have been forced to follow the system.

Why should a multi member team visit Eng. Ask Jamshed to come to Lahore. PCB , if decided so, can pay him TA DA. If he is not willing to come, PCB may take ex-parte proceedings. R.S. Menon, Bangalore

It is sad 1 person Nasir jamshed involved and 2 official of PCB going for R&R (rest and recreation) pleasure trip, why not on skype to take evidence, remember old story, Nasir Jamshed, went to w/c 2015 without any performance PCB sent to NJ, on the recommendation of Misbh and Waqar Younus, whole nations asking to include Sarfarz, but Misbah+Waqar did not listen, inquiry should start from w/c 2015 why NJ played and dropped so many catches, inquiry conducted involvement of Misbah=NJ and Waqar to be investigated.

He cant just travel 2) His passport was kept How do you expect him to go to Pakistan? I find that people just love bashing everyone and everything and start on corruption. It is high time Shehryar and Sethi and Co squander public money by visiting in person or dispatching some fellow gang members to have fun in UK. Questioning Nasir Jamshed is only an excuse. Why don't they quit for failing to eliminate spot fixing culture from Pakistani camp. Having been at realm of affairs, they must accept responsibility. No point in dramatizing the whole saga.
