One policeman was injured when a census team came under attack in Mandni area of Charsadda. The security personnel retaliated and shot injured the attacker who was later arrested.

This incident occurred when a security team accompanying census officials in Charsadda was attacked, DawnNews reported.

The attacker was taken into custody in injured condition and moved to an undisclosed location.

Earlier this month, one Frontier Constabulary (FC) soldier laid his life while another was injured in a suicide attack on an FC training centre in Charsadda's Shabqadar area.

The attackers tried to sneak into the training facility in the wee hours to “cause maximum casualties,” FC Commandant Liaqat Ali Khan had said, “but the guards quickly responded and neutralised the attackers”.

In February, security forces had killed three suicide attackers who attempted to wreak havoc at a local court in Charsadda district.

DSP Charsadda Fayaz Khan said five civilians have been killed in the attack, which the proscribed Jamaat-ul-Ahraar (JuA) claimed.

Pakistan’s largest-ever population census started on March 15 in 63 districts of the country amid tight security after a delay of 19 years.

The Pakistan Army, Frontier Constabulary, police, Frontier Corps and levies force personnel had been deployed in KP and Fata to provide security to the census staff members.
