LAHORE, July 26: Pakistan Railways has completed all arrangements for the resumption of Samjhota Express service. The train would be ready to steam off for Attari, India, as soon as the Railways receive a green signal from Islamabad.

According to Pakistan Railways sources here, platform NO-1, to be used for running Samjhota Express, has been renovated while the coaches and locomotive of the Samjhota Express are in operational condition and can be pressed into service immediately after the two countries decide to restore rail link.

The track is in perfect condition as its maintenance is ensured routinely, the sources said.

Pakistan has already formally proposed to India that Samjhota Express service be resumed as a step forward in the normalization of relations between the two neighbours.

AJMER LINK: Meanwhile, Delhi Transport Undertaking is likely to introduce a Link Deluxe bus service for the benefit of pilgrims from Pakistan coming by the Delhi-Lahore bus service to visit Ajmer Sharif.

A team of DTU officials had held discussions in Ajmer Sharif recently with their Rajasthan Road Transport Corporation counterparts to finalize the arrangements, said a news report from Ajmer quoting official sources.—APP
