TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has said that the country is in the grip of ‘economic terrorists’ who have been shifting their wealth abroad and doing nothing for the welfare of people.

He was addressing the concluding session of a youth leadership workshop here on Sunday. Local JI youth wing arranged the event which was also addressed by provincial finance minister Muzaffar Said, MPA Izazul Mulk, JI youth wing provincial president Abdul Ghaffar and Lower Dir president Shad Mohammad. Youth wing office-bearers from different parts of the district attended the workshop.

Mr Ahmad said that 65 per cent of the total population consisted of youth in Pakistan, but the successive governments had no plan for them. He said that youth were the vibrant and powerful segment of society which could not be ignored.

He urged the youth to utilise contemporary tools for mobilising their community so that they could play active role in bringing sincere and pious leadership.

The provincial JI chief said that it was his party that organised the youth as a force. He said that JI would award 50 per cent of the tickets for assembly seats to its elected youth in next elections.

He asked the youth wings to form 10-member cabinets at the village council levels as soon as possible. He said that the party would arrange a youth convention in Peshawar on April 16 during which the youth wings would be provided with a list of activities. Earlier, addressing ulema at Ahyaul Uloom, Balambat, he demanded of the federal government to restore Friday’s holiday. He said that JI had been making efforts to end interest-based dealings. The JI leader said that over three million students were enrolled in religious seminaries across the country and getting free education.
