SIALKOT: The Cantonment police will exhume the body of Tania Mariyam on Thursday on the orders of the local judicial magistrate.

The grieving family of the slain Christian girl had moved the judicial magistrate court for the exhumation.

On Jan 23, 2017, the Sambrial police had found the body of Mariyam in the Upper Chenab Canal near Sambrial.

Sambrial police had declared the death a suicide, whereas the family rejected police claim and said drowning was out of question since there was no water in the canal in those days.

The family said their daughter was murdered.Father of the deceased girl, Nadeem Gill, said that after the police remained clueless in their search for the murderers, they declared it suicide.

He said his daughter had gone to the of Convent of Jesus and Mary Sialkot for studies on the fateful days.

The police did not include the school management in the probe.

He said the exhumation would help clear the facts.

HELD: Police arrested 12 people for stealing donkeys’ skins, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Abid Khan told reporters on Wednesday.

The DPO did not share the names, saying the thieves had stolen donkeys from Daska and Pasrur.
