KARACHI: Newly-appointed Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh on Wednesday said that he would launch a crusade against corruption in the judiciary as he had zero tolerance for the menace.

He said this while briefly speaking to journalists on the premises of the high court soon after taking oath as the 23rd chief justice of the SHC.

Sindh Governor Mohammed Zubair administered the oath at the simple but graceful ceremony that was attended by the chief minister, sitting and former judges of the SHC and a large number of senior lawyers.

The SHC chief justice said that any court staff or judicial officer found indulging in corruption would not be spared. “We want public confidence in the judiciary restored,” he said.

Born in Larkana on Oct 3, 1961, Justice Sheikh completed his graduation in Larkana, his hometown, and continued to pursue law at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.

He started practising law in 1990 and was appointed as an SHC judge in 2009.

He will perform his duties as SHC chief justice till Oct 2, 2023. Chief Justice Sheikh replaced Justice Sajjad Ali Shah who has been elevated to the Supreme Court.
