KHAR: Security forces on Tuesday claimed to have recovered huge quantity of weapons and explosives during a search operation in Mamond tehsil on Monday evening.

An official of Bajaur Scouts told reporters that the arms were recovered during raids in different areas of the tehsil.

The raids, he added, were launched upon intelligence reports and information provided by the locals about the presence of weapons and explosives in the region.

Soon after receiving the information, the official said personnel of Frontier Corps reached the area and recovered the weapons and explosives, which were meant to carry out terror activities.

The official said the seizure included rockets, mortar shells, 19 hand grenades, four anti-personnel mines, four FT9 fuses, large quantity of ammunition and bomb making material.

The official said the action would continue till the agency was cleared of anti-state elements, their supporters and lethal weapons.
