TOBA TEK SINGH: Gojra Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Muhammad Shafiq handed down on Tuesday death sentence and a Rs250,000 fine to Boota Masih in a rape-cum-murder case.

The prosecution said the convict, of Muridke, was a security guard in a private hospital in Chak 351-JB, Pullian. He had raped and killed resident-nurse Sumera Ashfaq, of Chak 156-GB in the hospital in 2016.

The court also sentenced him to 10-year imprisonment for rape charge.

PROTESTS: PPP activists took out a procession on Tuesday in Gojra to condemn the murder of party activist Suhail Babar Butt in Lahore on Sunday.

The protest started from the press club and ended at Malkanwala Chowk where PPP district general secretary Mian Islam Abid, Tufail Zakir, Amjad Javed, Haq Nawaz Cheema and Mahmood Warraich spoke.

They demanded immediate arrest of PML-N MNA Suhail Shaukat Butt, who is nominated in the case.

Also, another procession was taken out by PPP activists from the PPP office in Timber Market and ended on Jhang Road outside the press club.

The procession was led by PPP city president Rana Khalid Mahmood, councillor Zulfiqar Ali Nasir, former market committee chairman Lala Muhammad Iqbal and other office bearers. Protesters condemned the murder of their party colleague.
