Two Pakistan Army soldiers, Lieutenant Khawar and Naik Shehzad, were killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Jani Khel area of Frontier Region Bannu on Thursday, Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.

The military’s media wing added that four terrorists were also killed in the intelligence-based operation conducted by security forces.

In a separate operation, one suspected militant was killed in a standoff with security forces in Balochistan as combing operations under Operation Raddul Fasaad continue across the country.

Two others were taken into custody as intelligence agencies as well as Frontier Corps (FC) personnel conducted the operations in the Kech and Andoor districts of the province.

One FC soldier was also injured in an exchange of fire with suspected militants.

In Punjab, 10 suspected militants were apprehended as the Rangers conducted 'search and sanitisation operations' in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Lahore, Attock and Rawalpindi.

A cache of arms and ammunition as well as explosive material were also recovered during the operations in both regions.

Security forces have reinvigorated nationwide intelligence operations as Pakistan faces a fresh resurgence in terror attacks.
