KARACHI: A defiant century by Mohammad Arif was not enough to save Orient Star CC from defeat in their KCCA President Cup fixture against Taj Sports at the KCCA Stadium on Friday.

Chasing 280, Orient Star CC managed only 187 all out in 32.4 overs to lose by 92 runs. Arif alone scored 108 off 125 balls with the aid of 13 boundaries.

Slow let-armers Mohammad Tufail claimed 4-36 and Gulber Khan 3-24.

Earlier Taj Sports made 279 all out in 36.3 overs with Asad Hayat (57, seven fours) and Shakeel-ur-Rehman (45, seven fours) being their main run-getters.

Paceman Mohammad Saleem captured five wickets for 47 runs.

Karachi Eaglets clinched a thrilling one-wicket success versus Korangi Friends CC at the Pak Star Ground. Paceman Tariq Raheem excelled for the losing side by taking 5-47.

In another nail-biting result at the TMC Ground, United Sports beat Victoria CC by one wicket.
