GUJRAT: A 24-year-old man, whose father and brother had been killed in a sectarian attack about three years ago, was shot dead over the issue of reconstruction of an outhouse at Jassoki village in Kunjah late on Thursday.

Reports said Dabeer Ijaz and some others were busy in getting the outhouse reconstructed when the rival group headed by Zafar Iqbal and his armed men came there and opened fire.

Ijaz sustained bullet wounds and died while being taken to hospital.

Usman Akbar and Aun Muhammad suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospital.

The deceased youth was the only son survived in his family after his father Ijaz Shah and the brother had been killed in a sectarian attack in September 2013.

Kujnah police have registered a case against eight nominated accused -- Zafar Iqbal, Awais Zafar, Junaid Ansar, Muhammad Irfan, Naseer Dildar, Arshad Muneer, Shan Ali and Rafaqat -- on the report of Umul Banin, the mother of the deceased.
