Khaqan makes difference

KARACHI, Dec 29: Khaqan Arsal was a sole exception as bowlers dominated the opening day of the Patron’s Trophy Pool ‘B’ match at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar on Monday.

According to details available, Khaqan hammered an unbeaten 104, completing his century with a six off leg-spinner Mohammad Ali Zafar in the day’s last over, as Habib Bank reached 187 for six after Karachi Port Trust (KPT) were skittled out for 100.

The 19-year-old right-hander Khaqan, who also struck 18 fours in his 156-ball knock, led the recovery while dominating the fifth-wicket stand of 103 with Abdul Rehman (30) after the bankers had crashed to 50 for four.

Earlier, Kabir Khan, the ex-Test left-arm paceman, and Sajid Shah narrowly missed their respective hat tricks as they each claimed four wickets. Five of KPT’s batsmen failed to score with three of them getting golden ducks.
