Three Pakistan Army personnel were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED), targeting an army convoy, exploded in Balochistan’s Awaran district on Thursday, said a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The killed were identified as Captain Taha, Sepoy Kamran Satti and Sepoy Mehtar Jan.

Two other soldiers were also injured in the attack, added the military’s media wing.

Army personnel and other security forces reached the site of the incident and started initial investigations. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

Awaran is considered one of the most sensitive and troubled districts of Balochistan. The district has witnessed regular attack on security forces in the past.

Militants have conducted attacks against security forces and national installations in Balochistan, which has been plagued by an insurgency and growing sectarian killings for more than a decade.

my Comments Feb 16, 2017 08:14pm

@EMp Correct. Average person suffers while high power politicians and their families travel safely with police protection, all paid by tax payers. Is it democracy or an insulting joke to average tax payers? Why they have failed to protect lives and property of Pakistani people. Administrators have lost moral authority to sit in place offices. Who will provide justice?

Alla Bux Feb 16, 2017 08:25pm

@Kashif CPEC will not help us but China. India has every reason to be happy when our textile industries can not compete with China's. China is putting up a huge Textile park in Xinjiang whose products will be dumped in our country using CPEC. Then good bye our exports. We will become another province of China, which is a good thing.

Subir Feb 16, 2017 09:08pm

@Kashif : Change your mentality everything will be all right.

Due to strategic location, cross border infiltration and present CPEC installation, Balochistan needs top most surveillance and security . This shouldn't be ignored by government and relevant departments
