PESHAWAR: The parents of 8,781 children in Peshawar district have refused IPV (Inactivated Polio Vaccine) to their children during the ongoing anti-polio drive, prompting the administration to warn them of action under 3MPO.

This was stated by Acting Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Shahid Mahmood, while presiding over a meeting on Tuesday. Officials of different departments were in attendance.

Mr Mahmood was told that children in most areas of Peshawar had been injected IPV while administering polio vaccines in the remaining areas was in progress. During the current anti-polio campaign, so far 201,781 children had been administered IPV, while the parents of 8,781 children had refused the IPV injection to their children.

The acting deputy commissioner requested the parents to extend full cooperation to the polio teams to protect their children from the crippling disease.

He said the parents, which were refusing administration of IPV to their children, would face stern action under 3MPO.
