HANGU, Dec 28: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Akhunzada Mohammad Siddique has handed over his resignation from the membership of the National Assembly to Maulana Fazlur Rehman against what he called his inability to find a solution to the problems of his electorate.

He revealed this at the meeting of the local elders held here on Sunday to discuss the role of non-governmental organizations.

He said Maulana Fazl was trying to convince him not to tender his resignation and had sent a number of people to him in this regard.

“I have stated categorically that if am not able to solve the problems of the people even when I am an MNA, then I have no right to remain a legislator,” said the Akhunzada.

The MNA said his forefathers had rendered sacrifices for the sake of the residents of the area in their personal capacity, and added that he did not need any post and would prefer to serve the people as an ordinary man.

Meanwhile, he said the elders of the area had decided that they would review the pamphlets and other literature of the NGOs before allowing them to carry out development activities.

The MNA also took notice of the unscheduled loadshedding in the area and warned Pesco that its office would be besieged if the practice was not stopped.

He said that an allocation of Rs500,000 had been made for the completion of water schemes in the area.
