KARACHI, Dec 26: Two powerful crackers exploded along the main railway line in Malir on Friday.

The explosions did not cause any damage to life or property. “It is an attempt to spread fear among the people of Karachi,” said a senior police official.

“Our experts examined the spot of the explosion and reached the conclusion that there is no damage to the railway tracks, which are intact,” Division Superintendent of Railways Karachi, Asrar Alvi told Dawn.

He said after the final opinion about clearance of the tracks was received, the Khyber Mail, a Peshawar-bound train, would be given a green signal to proceed.

A senior police official said that two explosions within a distance of 200 yards occurred in the gravel along the main railway line in Green Town, Malir. The second cracker exploded 10 to 15 minutes after the first explosion.
