LANDI KOTAL: Border security force and customs staff seized foreign currency and narcotics from two Afghan smugglers at Torkham border on Friday.

Officials said that they intensified personal checking of all Afghan nationals entering Pakistan after receiving a tip-off about smuggling of Saudi currency into Pakistan. They said 900,000 Saudi Riyals were recovered from a handcart which was tactfully concealed in its hidden cavities under flour bags. Khasadar force also arrested an Afghan national, Naeem Shah.

Meanwhile, customs staff seized 4.5 kilogramme charas from a truck loaded with fruits. Officials said that the contraband was concealed in artificial apples, which was detected during electronic scanning of the vehicle upon its entry into Pakistan. Driver of the vehicle, Essa Khan, was arrested and his vehicle impounded.
