FAISALABAD: Employees of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) allegedly ransacked the Millat Town sub-division office of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) on Wednesday after they exchanged harsh words with the sub-divisional officer (SDO) over payment of a bill.

The ANF employees called their associates who besieged the SDO office and did not allow the media or even Fesco workers to enter.

Following the incident, the Fesco employees called the Millat Town police whose police station is adjacent to their office. However, police did not reach on time and Fesco employees were unable to work for about two hours.

On being informed of the incident, the Fesco employees union office-bearers and others rushed to the spot. Talking to reporters, they said ANF personnel had blocked the main gate of the office and did not allow them to enter. They had also expelled all employees of the sub-division except the SDO.

The Fesco workers further said ransacking of their office was unjustified as the ANF officials could have contacted top officials at the Fesco headquarters. They also criticised police who they said reached the spot after a considerable delay even though the police station was adjacent to the sub-division office. They said the issue was resolved amicably through the intervention of police and Fesco officials.

A Fesco official said the executive engineer concerned had been directed to probe into the issue and submit a report within 24 hours.
