MITHI: Malaria cases on the rise

Published December 23, 2003

MITHI, Dec 22: The residents of different villages of Diplo taluka, hit by recent heavy rains, have urged the higher authorities of the health department to take notice of increasing cases of malaria and diarrhoea in Diplo, particularly in the villages adjacent to Runn Kutch.

They demanded prompt supply of adequate stock of medicines to basic health units (BHUs) and dispensaries besides anti-mosquitoes spray.

Talking to newsmen here, a large number of Diplo residents, complained that southern part of the taluka was hit by heavy rains during the month of August and a number of villages were still surrounded by dirty water.

They alleged that cases of diarrhoea and fever were alarmingly on a rise in these village whereas there was acute shortage of medicines at the BHUs and government dispensaries.
