GWADAR: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri on Saturday announced financial assistance worth Rs500 million to the Ormara Cadet College and Rs3 million to the cadets in lieu of their contribution to provincial development.

Speaking at the first Parents Day event of the college, Mr Zehri emphasised the institute’s importance with respect to the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

“Imparting education to our youth would help get more benefits from CPEC as technically trained human resource is the key source to national development,’’ he said.

Balochistan was on the track of development, he said, as a number of projects were initiated in the province to provide opportunities apart from construction of the Gwadar port and CPEC.

Mr Zehri said the country could fight terrorism, extremism and sectarianism by confronting internal and external conspiracies with unity.

“The government, army and entire nation is facing many challenges but we will fight together and be successful,” he added.

The minister distributed prizes and rewards among the cadets for outstanding performance.

Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah, Commander Coast Vice Admiral Waseem Akram, Ormara Cadet College Principal Commodore Masoodul Hassan and area notables were present on the occasion.
