KARACHI: All-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was on Saturday included as the 16th player in the already-announced Pakistan squad for the upcoming five-match One-day International series against Australia which begins next week.

The 36-year-old former Pakistan T20 captain has been out of the ODI side since the opening game of the five-match series against England at Southampton last September.

According to a PCB media release issued late on Saturday, the national selection committee, headed by Inzamam-ul-Haq, received a request from the touring team management comprising head coach Mickey Arthur and skipper Azhar Ali to send for Hafeez, who has been cleared by the ICC to resume bowling.

After the request was approved by the PCB chairman Shaharyar M. Khan, the selection committee inducted Hafeez, who was due to represent Rawalpindi as a guest player in the National One-day Cup for Regions starting from Sunday.
