KARACHI, Dec 21: Sindh Planning and Development Minister Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari has constituted a six-member committee to work for boosting oil palm plantation in the coastal zone of the province.

The Sindh Coastal Development Authority director-general has been appointed convener of the committee.

The need to constitute the committee was felt at a task force meeting presided over by the minister that was held recently to explore ways and means to boost coconut and oil palm plantation along the coastline of Thatta and Badin districts.

The committee shall look into all aspects of oil palm plantation and the setting up of a palm oil extraction plant so that growers may be induced to oil palm plantation.—APP
