Demo against Hesco held

SUKKUR, Dec 20: Residents of Moro held a demonstration here on Saturday to protest against Hesco officials.

Led by Shafi Mohammad Sehar, Ali Bux Kalhoro and others, the protesters gathered at the Moro Press Club after marching through different roads of the city.

Talking to journalists, the protestors complained that Hesco officials had replaced a new transformer in their area with an old one which went out of order on Friday.

They alleged that when they contacted the officials, they demanded gratification for the repair of the transformer.

Later, the protestors staged a sit-in on the National Highway for one hour and also burnt tyres.

The protesters ended the blockade after they were assured by the line superintendent and other officials of Hesco, who reached the spot, that a new transformer would be installed in the area.

KILLED: A woman was killed after she was hit by a recklessly-driven truck near the Dari bus stop, Ghauspur police station jurisdiction, on Saturday.

The woman killed was identified as Hayataan Malik.

The police arrested driver Razz Mohammad and impounded the vehicle.

WOMAN HOSPITALIZED: Gullan, 25, was admitted to the Sukkur Civil Hospital on Saturday in a critical condition after her husband, Ameer Bux Khoso, threw acid on her over a domestic dispute.

Hospital sources said the woman could loose her eyesight.

The police registered a case against Khoso.

SUSPENDED POLICEMEN: The additional inspector-general of Police, Sukkur, has advised 19 suspended ASIs to appear before the board for their written and viva voce tests to be held on Dec 23 at 9:00am at his office.

The ASIs were required to appear before the board on Dec 18 but they could not appeared due to some causes.
