PESHAWAR, Dec 20: Federal Minister for Water and Power Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has directed the authorities of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to gear up their campaign against power theft in order to bring down line losses.

He issued these instructions at a briefing held here at Wapda House by Chief Executive of Pesco Brigadier Tahir Saeed Malik on Saturday.

The minister asked the Pesco officials to utilize their capabilities to overcome the menace of power theft.

He further directed the Pesco authorities to form a team of experts to suggest ways and means for bringing down line losses. He said, the present government would not succumb to any pressure of the power stealers and would continue its endeavours to control the menace of power theft cases.

Mr Sherpao also suggested to seek help of the police, nazims and other concerned quarters in achieving the desired end viz a viz power theft. He also assured the Pesco authorities that there would be no problem of funding for the development projects.

Mr Sherpao suggested privatisation of feeders in every sub division to improve recovery pace.

Chief Executive Pesco Brigadier Tahir Saeed Malik in his detailed briefing apprised the federal minister of the developmental activities carried out by the Pesco in the province and the targets set for achievement during the current fiscal year.

The briefing was also attended by chief engineer Samarqand Khan, and chief of Tesco Hidayatullah Khan Kundi.—APP
