Published December 20, 2003

MINGORA, Dec 19: Residents of Jambel Kokarai valley have expressed concern over an increase in felling of trees, saying that forest department officials had failed to take action against this illegal activity.

Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, a representative of the locals, Haji Nawab, produced a commission report of the civil judge (ilaqa qazi), Swat, revealing that about 500 trees had been cut in the valley recently.

MISSING BOY: Mr Nawab also told the journalists that his son Tota Khan was missing for 10 days and that he had lodged an FIR in this regard, but the Mingora police failed to recover the boy.

The residents demanded the provincial government to order the recovery of the missing boy and also stop illegal cutting of forests.
