Published December 19, 2003

FAISALABAD, Dec 18: Water and Sanitation Agency contradicted on Thursday a news item quoting the provincial housing minister as saying that JICA has given a deadline of one month to settle differences between Wasa and local farmers regarding sinking of tubewells.

A spokesman of Wasa said in view of the importance of this project, the minister had stressed the need to start work on it without any further delay and he quoted a month’s time due to that fact, but JICA has not given any deadline.

The spokesman added that the minister has visited Faisalabad on Dec 16 in a bid to take people of the area into confidence.—APP
