KARACHI: With hundreds of mourners present, the main procession of Chup Tazia culminated on Thursday at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

With strict security measures in place, the main procession emerged from the Nishtar Park after sunrise and took its conventional route to complete the journey in more than two hours. While traffic remained suspended along the procession route, participants included women, children and people of all age groups.

Taken out on 8th Rabi-ul-Awwal every year to commemorate the death of Hazrat Imam Hasan al-Askari, participants silently mourned without any Noha Khawani or Matam.

The procession emerged from the Nishtar Park after Fajr prayers and culminated at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah almost at Zohrain. It passed through Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Preedy Street, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Market Road, Mahabat Khanji Road and Atma Ram Pritam Das Road.

For the security of the procession, which emerged from Nishtar Park, all vehicular traffic coming from the city side was diverted to Soldier Bazaar from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road, said an official.

Another procession was taken out from Qasr-i-Musayyab of Rizvia Society in the afternoon to end at Shah-i-Najaf Imambargah on Martin Road after sunset.
