LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency on Wednesday arrested a man impersonating a minister who had allegedly been looting people for the last many years.

An FIA crime circle team headed by Assistant Director Aftab Butt conducted a raid at the office of Salamat Ali Chohan on Nabah Road and arrested him.

Letter pads inscribed with words ‘senior federal minister’ and fake notifications of the establishment division were recovered from him.

An FIA official told Dawn that Chohan had been extorting money from people by promising them job and luring them into pyramid schemes.

A case has been registered against him.

Meanwhile, the FIA arrested three people - Waheed Aziz, Umar Farooq and Kashif Saleem - for their alleged involvement in illegal business of hundi and hawala.

A team headed by Deputy Director Jamil Khan Meo raided an outlet on The Mall and arrested the suspects. It also recovered local and foreign currencies along with cell phones and receipts from them.
