ISLAMABAD: Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir Khan accused the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Thursday of wasting time of the nation first by staging a sit-in in 2014 and then planning a ‘lockdown’ of Islamabad last month.

Speaking at a press conference here, Mr Khan claimed that PTI leaders were forcing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders to divert their attention away from development projects by holding press conferences on a daily basis.

“It is because of the PTI’s politics of allegations that the government leaders cannot concentrate on development projects and they are compelled to reply to each and every allegation of the PTI against the prime minister and his family,” he said.

The minister distributed a questionnaire among journalists seeking answers to six questions.

The questions are: what corruption has been committed by the prime minister and his family? How money laundering was committed? What kickbacks were taken by the prime minister? How the prime minister concealed his assets? How and when the prime minister managed to write off his bank loans? What proof does the PTI hold that the Sharif family owned London flats since 1990?

It provides yet more proof that the undergirding logic of public authority in Pakistan is legal and extra-legal coercion rather than legitimised consent.
