HYDERABAD, Dec 16: The central committee, Jeay Sindh Mahaz, at its two-day session held in Sann on Monday and Tuesday, demanded that the right of Sindh over the Indus waters should be accepted in accordance with the 1945 water agreement.

Syed Zain Shah presided over the meeting which also demanded that Sindh’s rights over its own land and resources should be acknowledged and the construction of the greater Thal canal should be stopped forthwith.

It called upon the parties and organizations of Sindh to unite on one platform on a one-point agenda— to launch a joint movement against the construction of the Thal canal.

The meeting was of the view that in the name of federation, Punjab had been looting the resources of Sindh since 1947 and billions of rupees recovered in Sindh in the shape of different taxes were being spent on the development of Punjab.

It demanded that the right of Sindh over different taxes such as custom duties, income tax, GST and withholding tax should be acknowledged.

It further demanded that army personnel working in KPT, shipyard, KESC, Pakistan Steel mill, Wapda and other organizations should be removed and the dues of the sugarcane growers should be paid latest by Dec 31.

Expressing solidarity with the people of Balochistan, the meeting demanded that cantonment projects in Kohlu, Gwadar and other areas should be shelved.
