RAHIM YAR KHAN, Dec 15: The local Sheikh Zyed Bin Sultan Al Nahyaan Airport on Monday saw the first successful landing and takeoff of the Jumbo 747.

The plane belonging to the UAE royal family was flown to the town for trial landing and takeoff, as some members of the family are due here in three days.

After landing, Captain Muhammad Alquaidi and his deputy John Urwing declared the runway excellent. “It was a superb landing.” Airport manager Muhammad Ishfaq and chief air traffic controller Sabiehun Nasir welcomed the plane crew.

It is the fourth airport of the country which can accommodate 747s after the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports. The runway is 10,000 feet long and 200 feet wide.
