KARACHI, Dec 15: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Monday said that government was working on priority basis for improving education sector and promoting modern studies and vocational education in the province, for which private sector’s help was important.

He was talking to a delegation of US investors belonging to Pakistan, who, led by Farhat Khan and Saeed Rizvi, called on him at the Governor’s House. MNA, Dr Farooq Sattar was also present on the occasion.

Mr Ibad said that investment in education sector in the province was showing positive results.

He said that acquiring of Information Technology, vocational education and other modern studies were among the targets of the government, adding that the goals could not be achieved without co-operation of community and private sector.

Lauding the interest shown by expatriate Pakistanis in this regard, he said government would provide all possible help for provision of infrastructure and other facilities to the investors.

He said this year more funds were allocated for education in provincial budget, as compared to the allocations of previous years, adding that an integrated programme was being implemented for promotion of IT and improving the conditions of vocational institutes in the province.

Besides, the higher education affairs were being given attention and it was being ensured that educational activities in these institutions be harmonious with the needs of the society and modern requirements, he added.

He said that government desired that passing out students could play their role in the industrial expansion and development of the country.—PPI
