QUETTA: Three suspected militants were killed in a gun battle with security personnel during a search operation in the mountainous area of Mushkaf in Bolan district on Saturday.

Personnel of the Frontier Corps and an intelligence agency cordoned off the hilly area between Mushkaf and Aab-i-Gum on a tip-off to conduct the operation. “Heavy weapons, including rockets, were used in the gun battle,” said FC spokesman Khan Wasey. The exchange of fire that continued for a few hours left three militants dead, he added.

He claimed that the militants, linked to a banned outfit, were involved in the attack on a Rawalpindi-bound passenger train near the Aab-i-Gum railway station in October.
