DERA MURAD JAMALI: Five tribesmen were killed and three others injured in an armed clash between two rival groups of the Lashari tribe in the Gajan area of Jhal Magsi district on Friday.

Two armed groups of the Lashari tribe had an exchange of fire in the Goth Qazi Ismail area of Gajan for several hours, according to official sources. They used heavy weapons, including rockets, which killed three people and injured five others, added the sources.

The injured were taken to the district hospital where two of them died. “Two sub-clans of the Lashari tribe attacked each other with sophisticated weapons over an old enmity,” said Jhal Magsi Deputy Commissioner retired Captain Muhammad Waseem. The cause of the old enmity was honour killing.

Levies and Balochistan Constab–ulary personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the area but the firing continued. The rival groups eventually stopped after a few women intervened and urged truce in the name of the Quran.

The deceased were identified as Jan Mohammad, Khamisa Khan, Ghulam Rasool, Mohammad Dawood and Ali Mohammad.
