KARACHI: Mohammad Habib Khan Hasani, father of ex-Pakistan cricket captain Moin Khan and former Test spinner Nadeem Khan died here on Monday after protracted illness.

He was 82.

His Namaz-e-Janaza was held after Isha prayers at Astana-e-Yaqoobia near Shamsi Hospital, Al-Falah Society Sector ‘F’, Malir Halt. He was later buried at the adjacent graveyard in presence of family members, current and former cricketers, acquaintances and friends.

Meanwhile, chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar M. Khan, chairman of PCB Executive Committee Najam Sethi and Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmad have offered their heartfelt condolences to Moin and Nadeem on the sad demise of their father.

“The entire PCB family expresses their deepest sympathies to Moin and Nadeem Khan on this sad occasion. May the soul of the departed rest in eternal peace and grant the family and the dear ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” said a PCB media release.

Former PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf, ex-national chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu along with former Pakistan players Iqbal Qasim, Rashid Latif, Wasim Akram, Sadiq Mohammad, Jalaluddin, Shoaib Mohammad and Rashid Khan were among a host of people who expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Soyem will be held between Asr and Maghrib prayers on Wednesday at the residence of Moin, house No 103/2, Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA.
