KARACHI: Malir road devastated

Published December 13, 2003

KARACHI, Dec 12: The road connecting Saudabad with Shahrah-i-Faisal at Kalaboard in Malir Town has become a striking example of the apathy of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) officials.

A major portion of the road remains inundated with water seeping out from main underground water-supply pipeline.

According to the area people and shopkeepers, the devastated road has been a source of much agony to them for years. They blamed KW&SB officials for their hardship as the pipeline was repaired several times in the past, but the problems remains owing to the substandard maintenance.

They said the town administration was reluctant to repair or reconstruct the road as they believed it would again be destroyed by water seepage.

They appealed to EDO KW&SB Brig Asif Ghazali to visit the area and issue directives to replace the pipeline.
