Korean professor’s lecture on writing

The Islamabad King Sejong Institute in the National University of Modern Languages (Numl) and the Korean Embassy on Wednesday hosted a lecture by a Korean professor on why he writes novels.

During the lecture titled “Why Do I Write Novels”, Prof Sang-guk Jeon who is a writer and a professor in the Kangwon University, Korea talked about his novels and his writing method.

Korean Ambassador Dr Suh-Dong Gu and his wife Yoon Jeong Cho, Numl Rector Maj Gen Ziaud Din Najam, head of the Korean department and director King Sejong Institute Dr Atif Faraz, faculty members and a large number of students attended the lecture.

Speaking on the occasion, the Korean ambassador said that Prof Jeon is an authority on Kim You-Jeong, who is considered a great Korean author. You-Jeong died at the age of 29 in 1937 but produced 30 novels, short stories and poems during the last five years of his death. The ambassador said that Sang-guk Jeon was also honoured many times by the Korean government and various literary institutions in Korea.
