BAHAWALPUR: The Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) conveyed its concern to Governor Rafique Rajwana on Monday over an inordinate delay in establishment of a new industrial estate here.

The BCCI delegation, led by its president Muhammad Salim Iqbal, at the Circuit House apprised the governor of the issue of land meant for the establishment of an industrial estate lying unresolved on technical reasons for several years.

The delegation also apprised the governor of poor electricity supply to industrial units, which also faced prolonged and unscheduled power outages.

The governor assured the delegation of taking all possible measures to make the industrial estate project operational soon.

He invited the delegation to Lahore to sort out the issue. He also directed the Multan Electric Power Company chief executive to make necessary arrangements to supply uninterrupted electricity to local industrial units.

Earlier, Governor Rajwana addressing a joint meeting of parliamentarians and prominent PML-N workers criticised Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan without naming him for his planned lockdown of Islamabad on Nov 2.

Earlier, Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Malik Iqbal Channar demanded the governor reserve quota in PPSC jobs for youths of south Punjab.

MNAs Makhdoom Syed Ali Hassan Gilani, Begum Parveen Bhatti, Javed Ali Shah, MPAs Begum Fauzia Ayub Qureshi, Haseena Naz, former MPAs Samiullah Chaudhry and Syed Tabsih Alwari also spoke on the occasion.

ARRESTED: The Head Rajkan (Yazman) police have arrested Yasir Ali, the coach driver who disappeared after the Khanpur road crash which left 27 people dead last week.

Police claimed that after the head-on collision between two buses, Yasir took shelter in his native village in the limits of Head Rajkan police. He has been handed over to Khanpur police.
