61 killed in twin suicide attacks as terrorists storm police training college in Quetta
Heavily-armed militants wearing suicide vests stormed a police academy in Quetta, killing at least 61 people and wounding at least 117, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti said Tuesday, in the deadliest attack on a security installation in the country's history.
Three gunmen burst into the sprawling academy, targeting sleeping quarters home to some 700 recruits, and sent terrified young men aged between 15 and 25 fleeing.
Communication intercepts showed the attack was carried out by Al-Alimi faction of the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi (LJ) militant group, IG Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Sher Afgan said.
Separately, the militant Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the group's Amaq news agency.

Most of the deaths were caused when two of the attackers blew themselves up. The third was shot dead by Frontier Corps (FC) troops. At least 117 people were injured.
“I saw three men carrying Kalashnikovs… they were in camouflage and their faces were hidden,” one cadet told reporters. “They started firing and entered the dormitory but I managed to escape by climbing over a wall.”
Bugti confirmed to reporters that there had been three attackers.
“They first targeted the watch tower sentry, and after exchanging fire, killed him and were able to enter the academy grounds,” he said.
"We have taken one of the suicide bombers' bodies into custody," Bugti told DawnNews.
The attack on the Balochistan Police College, around 20 kilometres east of Quetta, began at around 11:10pm Monday, with gunfire continuing to ring out at the site for several hours.
Major General Sher Afgan, chief of the paramilitary FC in Balochistan, which led the counter-operation, said “the attack was over in around three hours after we arrived”.
"The operation needed to be conducted with precision therefore it took us four hours to clear the area completely."
“There were three terrorists and all of them were wearing suicide vests,” he said. “Two suicide attackers blew themselves up, which resulted in casualties, while the third one was shot dead by our troops.”
He added that the militants had been communicating with their handlers in Afghanistan.
Afgan said communication intercepts showed the attackers belonged to LJ's Al-Alimi faction, which is affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The group itself, however, has not claimed the attack.
The area was plunged into darkness when a counter-offensive was launched, and security personnel threw up a cordon while ambulances zoomed in and out, taking the injured to hospitals. Military helicopters circled overhead.
The cadets were rescued from the college following an operation carried out by Special Services Group (SSG) commandos.
The training college is situated on Sariab Road, which is considered to be one of the most sensitive areas of Quetta. Militants have been targeting security forces in the area for almost a decade.
The training college has come under attack in the past in 2008 and 2006, with attackers firing rockets into the college playground. It covers about an acre of land located about 13 kilometres outside the main city of Quetta.

'Darkness hindered operation'
The attackers entered the complex through the front gate after shooting the guard manning the check post.
A senior law enforcement agency's official said assailants had fired at the police training centre from five different points.
Two terrorists entered the premises after shooting at the guard manning the checkpost near the front gate, while the third reportedly climbed the rear wall of the police centre.
"Two attackers entered through the front gate," Senior Superintendent Police Operations Mohammad Iqbal had said earlier.
Iqbal said that the suicide jacket of one attacker was not detonated and his body was lying at the centre premises.
Initial investigations showed the terrorists had entered the hostel, he said. The SSP said that there had been trouble distinguishing friend from foe as it was dark at the time.
'The attackers were wearing shawls'
An eyewitness speaking to reporters after making a narrow escape said he saw three terrorists directly enter the barracks. "They started firing. We saw them and started screaming. We ran upstairs towards an exit."
He described the terrorists being covered in shawls.
The barracks and hostel blocks are situated deep inside the compound, making it hard to hear any sounds of gunshots from the building.
'Tried to break down our door'
Asif Hussain, a recruit at the academy, told DawnNews he was lying in bed and browsing Facebook on his cellphone when the attack began.
"We'd been told that if anything like this ever happens, we should hide ourselves under our charpoys and not show ourselves.
When the firing started, all of us lay down under our charpoys, turned off the lights and closed the door, he said.
"We heard a loud explosion downstairs. These people broke down the door and started shooting at them one by one.
"They tried to break down our door, but were unable to. Then they started shooting our windows in. They couldn't get in."
"Only two boys in our room were injured," he said.
Security beefed up at hospital
The injured cadets were brought to Civil Hospital. Those in critical condition were shifted to CMH Quetta.
Extraordinary security arrangements were made in and outside the Civil Hospital to prevent any untoward incident, especially in the wake of August 8 attack when a suicide attacker targeted the hospital.
An emergency was declared in all government hospitals of the provincial capital, with the injured shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta and the Bolan Medical Complex.
Injured rushed to hospital after attack
Forces rush to site of attack
Police Training College cordoned off
In August, a suicide bombing at a Quetta hospital claimed by the militant Islamic State group and the Jamaatul Ahrar killed 73 people, including many of the city's lawyer community who had gone there to mourn the fatal shooting of a colleague.
Balochistan is a key region for China's ambitious $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) infrastructure project linking its western province of Xinjiang to the Arabian Sea via Pakistan.
Security problems have mired CPEC in the past with numerous attacks, but China has said it is confident the Pakistani military is in control.

Absolutely sad. We must pray for our country.
Enemy is trying miserably to destabilize Pakistan to divert attention from the domestic problems they face in there own backyard.
Terrorists are on verge of destruction. No one allow them any more to kill innocents. Armed forces will protect every inch of motherland.
My prayers for those who have perished and are injured. Why is it that every time the Nawaz Sharif govt comes under pressure there is a terrorist attack? I mean that's a bit strange isn't it?
Immediately deploy Pak Army's SSG Commandos.
True face of terrorism,no good or bad terrorists
Sad. We Indians are with you to fight this terror.
1200-1500 cadets inside as hostage... This is bad.. really bad. I pray they are all released safe and return to their family safe and sound.
God Bless Pakistan. Stand united ..... hope everyone will be safe and terrorist and their supporters will be punished.
Very sad. Hope no life is lost.
Ironically the CM & Governer were claiming just today that the law & order situation has improved in the province and everything is under control. Balochistan is continuously on target since last decade and there is a fear that situation may get aggravated even more in the context of on going CPEC.
Not sure what Balochistan will get out of CPEC but the whatever the burnt due to thug of war b/w different agencies will surely be borne by Balochistan only.
Prayers for the hostages.
Wish the release of all hostages....
This is so sad.
Bad news....
India stands with pakistan in this sorrowful moment.
Go SSG!
Very Sad incident. Any attack on innocents needs to be condemned. Irrespective of tension between India and Pak, I feel sad for the injured and pray that there is no life lost.
This is the result of derailing false democracy run by crooks. Prompt action against all types of terrorists is required.
Sympathy from your Neighbour. High time to change the policies of Pakistan to fight with terrorism and Religious extremism. And create a Democratic Fibre in the country as like what Father of nation Mr. Jinnah wanted long back ago.
We Common Indian people are with the Pakistani common people. PEACE
Balochistan situation is getting worse day by day. We must listen to their grievances and sort this out.
Khalid Langove is detained and in NAB hands, he got many of his men trained there in the PTC, it is a suggestion to interrogate him in this matter. He could be the culprit as he is trying all he could to come out clean from NAB.The army should get involved rather than depending on FC alone, if our lives worth enough I think not even a Single stone Should go unsearched.
Terrorists, there will be no place for you sooner.
Sad news. Hoping for no casualties. Amen.
Terrorism strikes Pakistan again
Good Job SSGs !! Thats how your successfully prevent a big carastrophy.
@Tahir - What no internal probe? No invitation to UN for international probe? Pakistan did think that such a probe was necessary before India pointed any fingers towards Pakistan.
Protectors need protection
Venues for the attack clearly show who is doing this and what the objectives are, weaking Balochistan's key law enforcement agencies weaken the defence of the province and opens up her borders to infiltration from the West PERIOD.
Terror is terror, wherever it is in the world. Condemn it strongly.
Terrorism is not good for anyone. Pl stop classifying them while eliminating.
terrorist should be defeated no matter where they are. I am from India, and I do consider them as terrorist, not freedom fighters and do not support them.
Its tragic and sad. What can terrorists gain by killing a few police or soldiers here and there ???
Islamic State must be defeated in Syria and Iraq and it has spread in Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen and in Bangladesh .
Pakistan must wise up and work with and support countries like Iraq ,Syria Yemen and Libya to defeat this Daesh Islamic State .
@Tahir how do you know what is the evidence ?
H. E. Prime minister has taken NOTE of The Terror Attack in Quetta incident, he has condemned the attack.
Entire nation needs to unite as these attacks are surely sponsored by those enemies of CPEC who do not want Pakistan to progress.
One casualty is one too many. This terrorist attack must not go unpunished. It's high time we hit the enemy where they hide like rats. RIP to the fallen. God bless Pakistan. Long live our security forces nation stands by them unequivocally.
Wish these Terrorist were caught not killed. Would love to know their origin and supporter whoever it is.
this is not the first time terrorist have attacked police training center. One would think security for them be fool proof. I can guarantee they couldn't storm VIP houses. There is no value of life for these poor souls
Very sad and unfortunate. our hearts go to everyone affected :(.. May the departed soul rest in peace and may God give strength to the families of the departed in this hour of grief.
-Neighbor.
@Syed. Syed you are the Light in Darkness!
common people from India and Pakistan do not want any of these . we want peace
@Anupama And hoping that Pakistan will take it serious to learn lesson of life
@Apoorv Swarup Great thinker
@Hamza any innocent death must be condemned. All the conspiracy theories must be condemned. Get the actual culprits to the trial.
@Apoorv Swarup Exactly.. 100% correct.
Pak foreign press stooge will stand up and say, they're doing to give Evidence to U.N. and condemn this attack. Shame on all of you gutless and visionless so called leaders without backbones
The IG FC said the terrorists were communicating with their handlers in Afghanistan. Then why it is doing of India ? Afghanistan is neither controlled nor run by India. To be politically correct one must not mention who runs Afghanistan.
come on man... this is unfair, what is the fault of innocent cadets. They may be sons and daughters , coming from lower or middle class families. This is the most unfari thing.
After CPEC is built, pakistan's GDP will increase to 150 trillion dollars per annum and will be around 12-13 times the second largest economy then; the USA. Pakistan will become the strongest nation in the world and it's enemy will beg for mercy.
Economy had stabilized, IMF gave a green signal. Cricket was about to prosper with league matches announced in the near future. Government doing okay and progress being made.
Who benefits the most from this horrific act. Neighbours on North benefit, attacks funded by neighbours on the East, neighbours on the West benefit since this is a prelude to unsafe conditions for the CPEC.
Now the opportunists will still aim for Nov 2. Any one can do the math and decipher who is the enemy of Pakistan.
I can enlist the dharna supporting neighbouring countries, the dharna executers, other opportunist political parties and all three neighbouring countries.
Go figure.
Afghanistan needs to be warned in strong words about about providing sanctuaries to the terrorists.
india will never indulge or support in such a kind of cowardly strike
Very sad moment for all inocent victims. Get rid of terror in any form from the face of this earth.
Indians are with our Pakistani brothers and sisters in this sad and tragic time. There is no difference between those who attacked Indian Army in Uri and those who attacked young police recruits in Quetta. There can be no difference between good terrorist and bad terrorist. Lets hope that the sanity will prevail.
This report suggests that one guard on duty manning the check post was shot before terrorists launched into action. There are more guards outside an inspector's house. Where was the security?
Vary sad. Culprits involved should be arrested and punished.
A moment to think ! How long we are blaming others and not ourselves for this negligence and poor security condition in the country !
How police can protect common men when police in under attack ?
RIP. Hope that responsible for the attack could be punished.
@Gaz Politicians may be bad. But they are not so bad as you have commented. Patriotism is not the monopoly of the Opposition Parties. World Bank has agreed that Pakistan Economy is on the right path towards progress during the period of present Government.
Very sad.. Too much unfortunate..
Same rheotric proof like you guys are asking.strongly condemning all forms of terrorism.Live and allow to live
Our heart goes to cadets; it is time to shift rangers from Karachi and fight "real terror"; Karachi problems can be handled by police if politician don't interfere.
And still our leaders are confused about good Taliban and bad Taliban
Irony....
Heartfelt condolence. Sad.
Sad to hear about any loss of innocent life. The World is with Pakistan on this including India.
Sad really sad guys so many innocent lives are lost, let's stop blaming each other and put an end to it by working together, there is no good terrorist and friendship with Chines or USA will not resolve our issues.
prayers for all the precious lives lost
Sad for cadets and their families. Good that all terrorists dead.
Violence is not a solution for any problem.
It is inhuman to resort to such savage acts.
Condolences to the bereaved families.
Violence begets violence.
What is happening to the land of Buddha, Indus Valley Civilization of tolerance, acceptance and non-violence being the core value?
Targic.... what's happening
We Indian condemn all types of terrorism its very inhuman. All we need is peace. Both India and Pakistan are suffering from terrorism its always better to help each other in curbing this menace than to blame each other.
Police colleges should have better security....
Very sad, indeed! My heart goes out to the affected families! So many lives lost in amateur so seconds. What was their fault? Terrorists do not distinguish between the innocents and the culprits. We all must fight against it jointly.
Horrible and highly condemnable.
Very Sad!!
@pk Culprits have blown themselves up!
@Abx Agreed
RIP all those who died... there are no 'good' terrorists... our thoughts are with the families.
We share your pain. We have been through this recently. There are no good and bad terrorists. Peace is only solution. RIP
Heartfelt condolences.
Please wake up.
sad
@Dr.Arshad .... You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
Lej Al Almi has taken responsibility
Terrorism needs to be uprooted at any cost. India & Pakistan should seriously think of uniting together to eradicate this menace once for all. Terrorists and their sponsors always take the benefit of the strained relationship between India & Pakistan. Time to think.
Beyond deeply saddening, and condemnation of this act of terrorism ,surprising thing is dangerously deficient security deployment. It is all the more so when this is a third attack .Surly some heads need to roll and some lesson must be learnt.
Feeling sad ..
Rip. We are with you in this tragic hour. Condolences to families of young recruits.
Very sad RIP. Pakistan is working hard to clear millitancy from the country. Unless all types of terrorists are targeted, situation on ground shall not change as terrorists can switch loyalties any time. Need to come out of denial and positive and firm actions against all shades of millitants need to be taken.
R.I.P Cadets.
@Khan USA
Agreed. I am sure security was lax and thus such cowardly act was done.
Blow these terrorists. There is no good or bad terrorists. Terrorists are terrorists and they have to be treated with iron fist. My heart bleeds for the cadets who lost their lives. May god give strength to family members of the cadets to overcome this. These young peoples are the backbone of a country. By seeing them murdered like this it is really disgusting and how long this will go.
Very sad, RIP soldiers.
shocking . Heartfelt condolences . Hope the countries in the region should join togethr to root out this menace once for all
RIP the departed souls. For the sake of humanity why can't India -Pakistan atleast fight unitedly to destroy these wild animals. Hoping & Praying to almighty.
It's very sad. I with parents, who lost their loved ones.
Sad. Innocents are murdered.. Pakistan, stop being trapped in victim play. Act and seek for all possibilities to resolve this..!
Terrorism is a bad thing and a curse. Eliminate all kind of terrorists from your soil.
Sad..
My sincere condolences for the deceased and their families
RIP
Attack may have had multipurposes, but damaging CPEC was most certainly one of them.
security failure..
Where are CCTV footages
We need to invest more in beefing up security though use of modern technology instead of relying on manning gates and perimeter walls with sentries.
sad to see unarmed men being killed, prayers from india, many families lost their loved once
May their souls rest in peace
Sad News... May the Departed Souls rest in Peace.. In this tough time, I am an Indian stand with our brothers and sisters of Pakistan.
Seal th borders of Iran, afganistan n India since. Bad guys coming from outside
heart breaking news..
@Haider seal , border with Iran n afganistan
Stay strong Pakistan.India is with you in this moment of great tragedy.
deep condolence for this innocent people from INDIA
If NS does not speak up against Modi govt and RAW involvement in supporting terrorism in Pakistan this time then I am joining Imran Khan dharna!!
This horrible act is to be condemned. India,Pakistan & Afghanistan need to stop supporting "freedom fighters" in the other's country and work together to eliminate terror groups. My condolences to the families and the people of Pakistan.
Third attack on the same campus. Now that is disgusting
Some thing very wrong with this picture. Three terrorist kill 59 injure 120. Fail to understand how was this possible.
@Not again What are you basing that on? speculation?
So sad,we Indian are with you against terrorism.
@Khuram CPEC? ... You think Indians are against your CPEC? Do you even understand economics my friend? CPEC is an All China profit project. In that China will only use you to make its profits. You have no idea of how much corruption your Pakistan officials are doing to hide the true face of CPEC. Look at what your economists are saying about CPEC. All you guys know is to blame without any base. Your government has already declared that Lashkar is behind this attack. I hope you know where they operate from.
Why can't we arrange sort of fool-proof security for the sensitive installations like the Police Training School?
Sad..sad..sad! Wake up Pakistan. Eliminate all of them. There are NO good and bad terrorists!
R.I.P , innocent people never deserve to die from any country . this is how we indians feel during terrorist attacks in our country . As a responsible human being we all should condemn such things and should not get influenced by people spread hatred and war .
Sad and security failure
Very sad. It is indeed shocking. Terrorism is not justified for any reason.
People running Pakistan overtly and covertly are sleeping in their air conditioned houses and poor young men are dying like flies, thanks to policies pursued by the above mentioned lot. A whole lot of people in power would have lost their jobs, if this would have happened in a civilized and just society. Pakistan is not the country for the poor and helpless. Nothing will change if people in power are not punished for their negligence.
@anwar siddique . This has to be stopped Anwar. Humanity can't afford bloodshedding of innocent lives.
deeply saddened by the loss of precious innocent lives. RIP
Why security was not alert and why it is increased after the incident takes place. Are we competent enough to fight with enemy or just bluff.
Deep condolence from our heart
@Khalid So I guess Corrupt billionaires do a better job than soldier who are protecting our mother land. Pakistan First. Love Gen Raheel Sharif.
Again look at the timing!!!
@Hope. you know why???
RIP poor cadets....May God offer courage to Family. Please pray to stop this inhuman and horrible menace
Which is more important, CPEC or PEACE?
Please transfer Rangers from Karachi to Quetta !
It reminds me of Peshawar Public School . Same time dharna in Islamabad !
Our deep condolences to all the victims and their families. All kinds of terrorism needs to be eliminated. God give strength tothe families of dead young men to cope with horrible tragedy
Wake up...wake up...
Very sad and most unfortunate that young budding cadets lost their lives before fully blooming.
aah my Quetta ..... so sad
Very unfortunate and sad. We all should fight against terrorism and save the life of innocent. Pray to GOD for peace. RIP
Our deepest condolences. Indian are with you at this hour. We need to kill all terrorist. Let India and Pak army form a common group and eliminate all terrorist.
Common man is dying while the establishment remains focussed on Kashmir.
Just seal Pak-Afgh border. No more such incidents please.
This devilish thinking of killing another human being is deplorable, no matter what the circumstances are.
@Coolmind absolutely right...we keep our face to the sunshine and we cannot see a shadow.
@Ghaznavi I think evidence is needed before pointing any finger. How is it possible to identify calls made from another country so soon before any investigation has started. This is not my statement. This is what Pakistani government has been saying after every attack in India. Today, Pakistan made same statement against Afghanistan.
@hyat What India has to do with this? What they will get out from attacking in Quetta? Government wants to promote hate for India in country and want to divert focus on their failures related to all social fronts..also Imran khan is going to stage huge dharna on 2nd Nov so can not be a game by Sharif to bring emergency situation so that he remains in power
You need to know that there is no good or bad terrorists.
People of India condemn any kind of terrorist attack. It is barbaric to kill someone sleeping.
Very sad. We need to bring these culprits to justice.
Again Blood fell on the earth Again Young children killed By support of Afghanistan
GOD BLESS US
What proof is there that these terrorists were from or related to Afghanistan ? They may be Pakistanis disillusioned with the government or people in power. Please complete a detailed investigation before making spurious claims.
Its time to go to root cause..INDIA strongly condemn it..find the involvement and punish the culprit..don't directly blame any country..INDIA deals strictly with terrorists..give us proof we will eliminate root cause.
@anwar siddique totally agree brother. But for that India , Pakistan and Afganistan should accept the territorial integrity of their neighbour. Question is are they ready to do it.
No one else to blame except our very own rulers for this mess.
@Sandeep Ind: thanks sandeep. We know indians like you always support good things. But you must also ask questions from your establishment and VHP cohorts why they are doing this in Pakistan.
The genie is out of the bottle. It is going to exact its toll in the region. It is sad, but true. You can defeat an organization, but how do you defeat an ideology? There is always a believer of the ideology ready to replace the ones that are vanquished.
Go all out oo catch the culprits. You should spare no effort - and if they turn out to be Indian saboteurs, then God help that country.
@Anurag that's how they are supporting the Afghanistan to do these activities in pakistan
RIP. These cowards are exactly the same as Afghan Taliban, I do not know why Sartaj Sb meets Afghan Taliban. For gods sake, please arrest them.
Very sad indeed.
Heart bleeds.
India and Pakistan just blame each other ...the terrorist are having gala time at our cost !! What are they gaining ? Nothing , but they are feeling victorious !! Terrorism has gained a space in every corner of the world ! Not a word about so many families devastated by these acts. Is it so easy to control this menace unless we extend our help to the administration. But all of us the so called intellectuals , who can read and write will spend days in analysis, dolling out advice and violently raising fingers at each other !! We are fools and good for nothing because we feel great blaming our Government and administration ..clear indication of impotency in dealing with the terror instead of blaming neighbourhood !!
Deeply saddened. No words can describe the grief Pakistani people are feeling right now. I am absolutely devastated. May there souls rest in peace.
IK lock-down is near and this all started again, RAW 100% involved, bcuz Modi dont want IK to come in power. bcuz if IK come or Nawaz gone then MODI is also gone.
such a sad incident. we need to push forward national action plan with full force.
Very sad news. So many dreams shattered and so many families will suffer for no fault of theirs. This is not time for blame game but corrective action.
@anwar siddique Very rightly said Brother Hope the sanity prevails in the minds of our elite!!!!!
Where is National Action Plan?
@Tahir Any evidence?
No end to this madness.
Very tragic, very painful. So many young lives lost.
@Mohajir well said.
@Indian concern What a silly question!! They both are important.
Timings are definitely suspicious!! Boys get tough on all suspects!! We need a full-fledged rangers operation in Punjab and Balochistan without any permission from Government, because this is an Emergency!!
@Shubhendu - Sympathies but without logic: When something happens in India then Pakistan is blamed but when the same thing happened in Pakistan, ironically you are blaming Pakistan. Only fair people will talk and do fair things. India must treat Kashmiris fairly- and all this will end.
Our prayers with you guys. With love from india
@Ahmed ali Indians are peace loving people. They spread peace, prosperity and love all over the world. We want peaceful Pakistan. Please, Join hands with India and eliminate all terrorists groups from Sub- continent. Terrorists ideologies will never match with democratic governments, Pakistan or India whoever else.
@Indian concern BOTH!
Sad ... Both India & Pakistan should fight terrorism together ... RIP innocent people , may the almighty give strength to the bereaved families ... no form of terrorism is helping anyone, after all innocent lives is lost
@Venkat was there any proof regarding Uri incident? at the very moment uri occured ur govt started blaming pakistan!!
Sheer incompetence and failure of intelligence agencies.
Very sad incident with tragic loss of life. Condolences to the families. The enemy we have to fight is extremism and violence.
Strongly condemn these attacks... Government should work against militancy...
Iam an indian and condemn any kind of terrorist attack in any country. I condemn it with the same way as i did it URI attack. I dont support the double standards.
This is so so sad....young boys killed for no reason. Plz God give d strength to family members to bear this huge loss. Breaks my heart thinking abt parents n siblings. Whoever did this must be held responsible n punish accorfingly.....
@RIZ what is the proof
How long it will be before we deport Afghanis from Pakistan. It is shame that some so called Pakhtoon leaders care more about Afghanistan than their own country men in Pakistan.
Pakistan should do Surgical Strikes in Afghanistan.
URI, Pathonkot,Quetta. Still no one learns lessons. I see people are asking for revenge already.
VERY SAD
@junaid rao : Please do not comment on India. This is a huge problem with every country about the terror. We are saddened with what happened to the cadets.
WE INDIAN ARE ALWAYS WITH PAKISTAN TO FIGHT AGAINST TERRIRISM
The Nexus of NDS and RAW at Play, it can be clearly seen really sad. Hoping the ordinary people and sane people in Afghanistan and India raise their voice, yesterday the Taliban group came to Islamabad in regards to the peace talk now this. This is very easy even for a layman to understand. I hope there is peace in my country and our neighbours.
@Anurag true the handlers were from Afghanistan but India has no less than 27 consulates spread all over Afghanistan AND manned by RAW!!
Very Sad indeed, that precious young lives have been lost. My heart goes out to the bereaved families in this time of grief. I also grieve for the families of the terrorists, for they too lost their loved ones in this mayhem. God grant sanity to us all. May the wishes of the terror handlers never be fulfilled.
Very sad but one thing is strange they are communicating to their allies outside like in Afghanistan how we can not block the same as you have the capacity to block it while on Ashoura and other occasions.
@Merchant no. Modi would not care. It is Pakistan's internal problem he will tell
@SVK the intellectual , very well written
Send All Afghan refugees back to their country ASAP and close the borders with Afghanistan. Erect laser security walls at the border to stop terrorists crossing the border and entering into Pakistan.
Sad to hear. Deep condolences to the affected family. Hope the terrorists will get punished.
From India
Will Pakistan call India Terrorist State? Thats the question considering there have been clear statements from Modi saying they will do "things" in Balochistan. There have been clear evidence of Indian involvement in Balochistan. India is so quick to balme anything and everythin on Pakistan without evidence. Its time to call what it is. Terrorism from Indian side.
Sad. But blaming others in an emotionally charged mind without any evidence will not do any good. As given in the article -the chief of paramilitary FC says "communication intercepts showed the attackers belonged to LJ's Al-Alimi faction, which is affiliated with the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)", but readers seem to have ignored it. If more-educated folks do this , can't imagine what the less-informed will do. Investigation has not completed, but many have jumped to pronounce the verdict - Afghanistan, India, Iran ..guilty!
We condemn the terrorist attack anywhere in the universe, where human or nature hearts. Our pray for the victims. We appreciate the swift, bold & timely rescue operation carried out by the security forces & saved thousand plus lives.
@Gaz WOW what an analysis. Kudos.
My sympathy with the families of young cadets who lost their lives............we condemn such terrorist activities everywhere in the world..............
Enemy is trying very hard to derail CPEC. We are not stupid and we know exactly who that enemy is.
The Feeling of the pain is same, it does not matter, if one is Indian or Pakistani!
Dont be quick to blame others for your loss. Where is the EVIDENCE?
Deep condolences with victims families.
@iztraab .Lie, Modi did not even address the UN assembly this year.
Please take action on all terrorists do not differentiate. Whole world is suffering , Finish them all
Where was our security agency to prevent this attack question needs to be asked if Our security forces are are unable to protect the protected areas how can we trust them protect the common Street specially in kpk..our thoughts and prayers are with those family's who have lost loved ones in this war on terror..
@Sandeep Ind True, probably the common Pakistani understands this but what about the authorities?
@Khalid perfectly said
Pakistan needs a security force, just to protect its security forces! If the Police facilities are not secure, then ordinary person has to fear for himself and his loved ones all the time.
Very sad and tragic incident to be condemned by one and all. RIP the unfortunate ones.
indeed our enemy is cunning and deceptive and we know it very well who the real enemy is
Real tragedy. The pain of the families of the killed trainees only can feel the pain. Heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their near and dear ones at a very young and promising time. May their souls rest in peace.
Our sympathies from India...may God give the people of Pakistan strength and may we fight this battle together ...our Enemies are the same..sadly we are all blinded by history and irrational hatred towards each other..
We support pakistan for their economical growth. We went pakistani young crowd to get employment in progessive growth.Who wants to have failed and undeveloped nation as neigbour.Provoking anti indian sentiment will divert u from empowerment. find the true culprit.
At least now, stop distinguishing terrorists as good terrorists and bad terrorists.
Negligence is a crime also.
three people entered and controlled all , i dont understand what arrangments we have
@junaid rao:: Proof please ..
@Abx We are very happy , Please seal Border.
Very sad. Deep condolence for the victims and their families.
@Aussie SHOW PROOF...
@Shahryar ..agreed, local administration should be blamed and punished.
@SYED HASSAN HASEEB even one person with suicide jacket would have been enough to kill 60.
Sad. Condolences from an Indian.
Terrorism in any country is not good. I stand with Pakistani people in this moment of grief. may the lost souls rest in peace
I feel deeply sad over the terrorist incident that has claimed valuable lives and left their family in trauma. My condolences to the families, relatives and friends of those who died or got injured in this tragic accident. May the departed souls rest in peace and those involved in this must be brought to justice.
In most of the comments, India and Modi are blamed. This is not the correct approach to solve the problem. Instead of blaming others, please curb extremism and terrorism . Automatically, all your problems will be solved. There are no good and bad terrorists. All terrorists are bad.
very sad to hear that terror has struck the future protectors of the land. This is systematic step by the terrorists to prevent people from joining the police . Terror should be eliminated at all cost . All indians and artistes - will condemn this and stand with common people.
Very sad as so many human life without contributing humanity lost. The people behind it should be punished. Terrorists are terrorists no good or bad..
I condemn this attack.
@Coolmind Good thinking
Profoundly sad on the loss innocent individuals barbaric activity. My heartfelt condolences to brothers and families of the young heroes who lost their life. May go d give you all the strength and resolve to cope with this tragedy.
Very Sad.. We Indians feel your pain... This mindless killing of innocent people need to stop.
Whether you accept it or not, India is always a peace loving country.
This is very sad!
Rest in peace my brothers. Condolences to the families. Sad
India wants a peaceful and stable Pakistan.
Sad. Terrorism in all its manifestations regardless of who is perpetuating it on whom should be condemned. Hope all the perpetrators of this cruel act are caught and punished to the full extent of the law.
Really very sad.. RIP Cadets..
Very sad, great loss , condolences to the innocent victims families. They are no Good and Bad terrorists. All should be punished.
Why was security so lax??? Attacked twice before and only 1 guard??
@Hamza Good...lets see who will win
It is high time we united as a nation, as we are surrounded by hard core enemies.
this is a country at war now and no good security arrangements. 700 recruites hostel and only few or one gunman which was killed and thats all now whatever anyone can do.
I condemn this shameful act of this terror attack
@yousuf A. Yes we helped. Now let us see what you do.
Sad and unfortunate.
One has to think about the mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers of those who died. No cause is worth this sorrow of so many people. Pray to god that he changes the mind-set of the people behind this
Enemies of Pakistan are very active while our ruling party has no concrete plan to protect the lives & properties of the peoples. Unless the Punjab Taliban is subdued such attacks will continue to take place, the terror planners are sitting in Afghanistan to destabilize Pakistan. Indian agents disguised as steelworkers & steel engineers are frequenting Pakistan to carry out their dual mission. Dr. Tahirul Qadri had publicly named some of the indian steel workers & engineers are employed in steel companies owned by our elite class yet no inquiry or action has been taken.
I personally think shariah should be implemented in Pakistan. After that there would be no justification left for these people to commit crime. We can definitely live our life without dance and music and with beard and parda. But we can't live with these suicide attacks. Also 96% Pakistanis are in favour of Shariah already
This is a cross border attack planned and executed from the western neighbor. We must counter all such attacks with a firm resolve to get them from whatever and wherever hideouts for complete elimination.
As long as we just show knee jerk reaction on these incidents and keep our guards down soon after these incidents, it will keep happen to our security forces. Sad to see so many lives lost to the terrorism.
My heartfelt condolences to deceased personals.
@Merchant The counsolutes are building Dams, roads and schools in Afganistan. Sir India don't see violence as an option that's the reason we are looking for reconsidering water treaty, So stop beleving the conspiracy.
So sad. Rest in peace.
Heartfelt sympathy & condolences to the family members of the young aspirants who got killed today. The dream of 60 young men are shattered.
India will try everything to destabilize Pakistan and divert attention form its attrocities in Kashmir.
@arun thats your government want you beleive facts on grounds are contrary to that statement. We have arrested live and serving spy masters in Pakistan. They are not simply on tourism in Pakistan. its about time Indian people understand what their government is doing inside India and other countries is plain and simple terrorism!
RIP.Sad many innocent lost their lives.
Its a difficult situation for everybody. Again it is going to get into looking for "who" to blame. "who"s wrong. Instead can we look at "What"s wrong?
Heartfelt sympathy & condolences to the family members of those who died today.
All will be well soon. That's my prayer from India.
lets accept it the situation is depressing...Lashkar jehangvi open acceptence of attack ...the same group which attacked srilanka cricket team convey ..Its high time pakistan army and govt stop differentiating between thse terror groups ....target all not selective.....it is like a cancer we can never tame a cancer to nuture it to grow somewhere and to cut it from somewhere else......it will spread like venom to everwhere we must cut it whole.....
@Ravi No Ravi. There is a relationship with India trying to open two fronts to scuttle CPEC.
Very sad event.
@RN This non sense must be stopped because normal people(Majority) dont believe in the blame game. Terrorists are the culprit here and Pakistan government needs to take drastic actions against all extremists in the country and also the people operating from Afghanistan to hurt Pakistan.
ISIS claimed it. So let's not spread hatred by blaming the neighbours.Only love can win hearts. And this applies to both sides.
Ufff...what a sad news...innocent people get killed in both countries...heart goes out for pakistani brothers...these terrorist groups should be dismantled at any cost...it is very important for this region...I am a sikh but will observe a low diwali this year due to Uri attack and now this act of terror on pakistani soil...condemn all these coward attacks and pray almight to bring peace to this reagion and strength to the families who lost there loved ones...
@Awais Ali I disagree with you,
I am sure if the police deployed for VIPs is withdrawn and instead placed for routine security, everyone will be secured not useless few.
It doesn't matter if terrorist handler are inside or outside of Pakistan, what matter is Govt/Security agencies are fail to provide safety. Period.
sad to see the lost of human life. Many families lost their loved once. Hope Pakistan will unite against criminals behind this inhuman work.
@Abdul Rehman so easy to say that, think. ISIS and lashkar e jhangvi have claimed responsibility. It s better to admit what's wrong in Pakistan regarding terrorism rather than point fingers
@yousuf A. The culprits are dead. There were three of them. The security was poor. Pakistan has not yet woken up from its slumber.
Really sorry to know that so many young lives were cut off in the prime of their youth. How will their parents face this world, what expectations they had from these brave cadets, everything has turned into ashes.Terrorism is a deadly scourge for the mankind.
Deep condolescence for the cadets. India is not involved in this nefarious acts. India wants a peaceful neighbourhood. All terrorists should be eliminated, and all disputes should be solved by patient dialogue.
@Jally Fellow Well said buddy
@junaid rao how??
@Indian from Kolkata Thanks but we all know who is behind this.
To those who carried out this attack, either they sitting in Kabul or Delhi, what goes around, comes around, just remember.
@Imran , Why people like you think everything in terms of CPEC? And also, instead of bothering about the lives lost, you are talk only of CPEC. The attitude is wrong. Lives are more precious.
Absolute madness, sad that so many lives lost... But these are the outcome of years of radicalisation, and the madras the terror factory... It's hard to accept but the reality... These radicalisation centre needs to be shutdown
It is so sad
ISIS claimed the attack
Had all these 365 people, who have commented here, unitedly and in one voice, told the Government to hunt and eliminate all terrorists from the country, there would be some meaning, purpose and effect. Instead, people have indulged in blame games and boasting about CPEC. Please wake up and understand that there are no good terrorists and bad terrorists. All terrorists are bad. Shun terrorism and extremism.
@Sarai Alamgir Please read other news papers also, "Islamic State claims attack on Quetta police academy".
If Pakistan do not wake up at least now to eliminate all extremism and terrorism, there is every risk of ISIS entering.
It's extremely strange that their was only one guard on academy's gate . They were only three terrorists are were not obstructed by cadets or any security personnel . It was utterly security failure ; when we know that the area is not secure then we should maintain strict security and surveillance at academy . There are still loopholes which should be plugged . Terrorism is still present in country , we have to be vigilant around the clock to prevent an untoward incident specially in sensitive areas .
Very sad indeed....these Cadets must be in late teens or early 20s ....wanting to serve their country! First it was school children, then lawyers and now Police Cadets!!!
@Sarai Alamgir Please read other newspapers too. ISIS claimed responsibility.
RIP
RIP to dead people
Very sad news.
Sad indeed.
When ISIS is claiming responsibility so sad to see India being blamed for this incident
Only yesterday some dawn readers were either being too naive or just deliberately trying to mislead others by asking the Q who is the enemy? Does n't matter which faction did this all these militants harbour the same pathological mindset as TTP. And while it is not possible to stop or prevent every atrocity this carnage is a huge security failure. Someone needs to be held accountable
IS has claimed responsibility for the attack, so let's not have the knee-jerk reaction of blaming India. Instead, let's cooperate on stopping the killing of people on both sides of the border. My condolences are with the Pakistani people.
@Abdul Rehman IS has claimed responsibility then why blame RW
Leadership is only concerned about loot and projects to win elections.
Message for all Pakistani nation: be brave, be patient, and be united. Ultimately, we will win.
Very Sad. Islamic State has claimed responsibility. It must be defeated. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones.
@Logical Thinker Didn't the Indian Mujahadeen claim the attack in Uri? yet you guys still blammed Pak. Anyone can phone and claim theuy carried out the attacks. What matters is evidence, which Pak has had, unlike India.
Intelligence failure of the highest order.
ISIS has claimed responsibility.
My condolences.
This is height of incompetence and incapability on part of security arrangement at the Police Academy, located at the most dangerous Saryab Road, already attacked twice in the past. The action should start from the Administrator and the Head of Security. The guards on duty must be asleep.
First and foremost our heartfelt condolences go out to families of the young police recruits who were targeted in these deadly attacks. We pray for early and full recovery of all who were injured.
Quetta has seen some serious attacks lately and it is unfortunate that so many precious lives have been lost due to ruthless terrorists attacks. We commend the Frontier Corp troop who brought the situation under control and minimized damage. We stand with the people of Pakistan in these tough times. There is no denying that terrorist have their own agenda of death and destruction and there is no doubt that with coordinated efforts they will be defeated.
Abdul Quddus RMS - U.S. Central Command
Border control is essential to defeat terrorism emanating from Afghanistan. The border is porus. Why not build the big fence, patrol by the heavily armed border guards.
ISIS has claimed responsibility.
India needs to move out of backwaters of terrorism driven politics. A good way to deal with CPEC will be to develop trading links and benefit, China has no colonial history, they basically advance through trade. All the rubbish comparison with British East India Co trojan. As for Afghanistan, it has unfortunately turned into a major security problem after British American occupation, a Trump like wall is needed along its border. CPEC budget needs that or they won't let anyone get anything done.
@Nginx dear neighbour, building dams is the side business of these so called consulates. They were build to create a western front for Pakistan. India cannot make a fool of the entire world by saying the 27 consulates were build to rebuild Afghanistan.
It is tragic that so many precious lives were lost. RIP.
Yes, blame India for everything. Never take responsibility.
Very sad and condemnable loss of innocent lives . Please note there are n o good or b ad terrorists . We all deserve to live in peace.
In such a sad moment also , commentators are behaving insane. They are blaming India despite the fact that ISIS has already taken the responsibility. Please recognize your real enemies and save the citizens from such terrorism and violence. Please, Please, India will never resort to violence.
ISIS our new threat to CPEC ?
@Not again : Karma gets everybody dear. Be it India or Pakistan.
@whyso How do we know that "That-someone- claiming -to- be -ISIS" is really ISIS?
Exceptionally unfortunate, horrific tragedy. I hope India and Pakistan can work together to end this stupid and whimsical curse of terrorism.
Human first than an Indian
VERY VERY SAD NEWS.
When will Pakistan realize that there are NO Good or Bad terrorists. ALL TERRORISTS ARE BAD.
@Merchant
India has only 4 consulates in Afghanistan. Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat, and Kabul.
@Sandeep Ind on one side you say you are with us and on other side you are trying your best to hit us at all extents. What a shame?!
@junaid rao Brilliant Observation,
@lordofthering A sane voice
Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi raajivoon
@Akbar, The Great. If there is a "target", there is for SURE an "objective" behind it.
Very sad innocent lives lost, RIP. Pakistan need to seriously concentrate on earlier announced NAP. This incidence also should not be lost under dust of denials and blame games. Army doing good job to work against terror groups which must be extended to all kind of terror groups including IS and civilian govt need to support them and changing mindset of people bent on destroying country for any reason.
Sadden to hear. Condolences with Pak. India stands with Pak.
@Mohammad S. Khalid YES if you are against TERRORISM without any discrimination.
When will the mankind understand that the biggest asset is mankind itself? My heart goes out for the departed souls and their relatives.
@junaid rao show proof
Very sad, some cowards attacking from behind, I don't think this is Islamic teaching.
Did anyone read the article. It says that terrorists belonged to a group which is an arm of LiJ which is affiliated with TTP. Where does India come into picture with TTP and LiJ? And if you really think thay you need to do surgical strike in Afghanistan on RAW sponsored camps, please do it at earliest. We are not worried because if RAW was capable of doing this, it would have done it long ago.
Very Sad. There is no place of terrorism in civil society. We stand with our brothers.
Condolences from India. Who ever has done this should not go unpunished - however powerful. Heartbreaking.
All inquiry should purely be done by the Army and Army alone because only then the inquiry will be quick and impartial.
We need Karachi-like Rangers operation in Balochistan and Punjab as well.
We also need strict check on madrassas, Lal-Masjid type of Mosques and every foreign organization working anywhere in Pakistan for our sakes.
@Sarai Alamgir Ur belief is ur evidence??????
Our prayers for the innocent cadets and others who lost their lives at the hands of terrorists
Eye for an Eye cant make peace anywhere in the world. Live and let live in peace.
I pray for those souls who passed away. I am INDIAN. and i stand against any type of terrorism. No country is bad but some goons. I wish both countries togather fight against terrorism.
@Baloch bleh show proofs .
@Tahir oh really!, where is the proof?
@Anonymous Indians and Humans are synonym
IS has claimed responsibility.
What happend is extremely disastrous. Departed rest in peace. Without any proof India being pulled up. Sorry state of affair.
A sad comment on Pakistani leadership. But no dare point a finger at it.
Sad. Another senseless massacre. When will we humans stop behaving in this manner?
Feel numb with pain for this senseless violence. We are the unfortunate children of this earth who are bleeding it to death.
Vist the site, pray Janaza namaaz, acp created, some usual comments this is what our leaders do and we will forget this like all the others......wake up nation.......nothing will happen as usual.
Take care...Alaha hafiz
Very difficult to comprehend that only three terroists attacked the police academy and the securities could not stop them or arrest anyone alive. Seems that we have never learned any lessons from the past history. We should stop the blame games and take the responsibilities.
Condolences for the families whose sons lost their lives. RIP.
@Salvage and how do we know its India please stop when ISIS Claims something they are normally behind it
ISIS is claiming the attack
https://www.yahoo.com/news/gunmen-kill-20-attack-police-academy-pakistani-city-000742668.html
@Hope. ...Denial at best. RIP the departed souls
@Abx Mr. Modi is a peace lover. He extended friendly hand to Pakistan but in vain.
IS has claimed responsibility but Pakistanis still blame India? Come on Pakistan it's time to wake up.
Truly sad to see another such brazen attack, with no specific purpose, except to hurt the State. This carnage is blamed on JeM. So what? Everytime, some group or the other claims responsibility and Pakistan seems to be caught in a quagmire. If the world can deal with ISIS, maybe the world should help deal with these thugs in pakistan
weather pakistan get sadeen or not when indian army and police get killed by terrorist but I aM VERY SAD TO HEAR THIS AND i think almost all indian are probably sad to see 61 innocent young lives lost
Indians are genuinely saddened and concerned from a practical perspective too because we do not want such conflicts neither in India nor in Pakistan or Nepal or Sri Lanka or Bangladesh or Myanmar or Kashmir any neighborhood because a conflict in one place can spread and affect other places gradually. Everyone is unhappy about something. Violence is never the answer for any grievance. All nations in subcontinent should be conflict free. lets all join hands together to eliminate all fertile grounds where terrorism breeds.
We Indians are as sad as you were sad when Uri attack happened. RIP to all brave soldiers (Indian soldiers in Uri and Pakistani solders in Quetta)
Bad news, hope all be ok
Unfortunate. So many lives are lost.
If this is what the young men are handed out, how would the nation react in future?
It's sad to see such a loss of innocent human lives, but worst is people blaming. CNN already reported that ISIS has accepted the responsibility of attack, so chill out guys.
@Vivek The size of US economy is approx. 18 trillion (this was Q2 of 2015), let's see the size of Pakistan's economy (269 billion) :) By the way, this is readily available information. Enough said!!!!!
@junaid rao ISIS has claimed responsibility and you blame India for this.
@A Kashifi Sir still you believe only CPEC change the fate of Pakistan ??? No sir ..No it your thought which can change you .. just change your mindset then every thing will be change ..otherwise you need CPE at your every steps.
We all are responsible for this, three militants killed number of lives! Very sad
The root cause of the problem is misinterpretation of Islam nd extremism
Dear Friends from Pakistan..Check CNN..ISIS has claimed responsibility for this attack. Also Laskar operating from Pak has owned the attack in Uri. Now can you still blame India?
@Raja farhat Abbas ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The only solution to stop it in future is to ban all terrorist groups and terrorists regardless of bad or good. Terrorism is not good for health of anyone. Awake...
@Hope. Awake, try to recognize the root of terrorism.
This is terrible. Those who did this must pay.
It's sad what's happening to our country. Please don't blame other nation(s) for our problems. We Pakistanis think that our religion (Islam) is only right religion and within our religion our sect (Shia, Sunni, provide any name) is the right sect. We need to educate people to say that it's OK to be of other religion and other sect. The judgment day is set to reward and punish all of us. Until the judgment day, let's practice our religion and sect the way want and let others of different religion and other sects practice the way they want. It's unfortunate that terrorists are using religion to kill people when no religion condones killing for religion.
My God bless departed souls. International politics seems to have little value for innocent human lives. Moral support has come to mean which we see everyday. Very tragic.
Sad. Get the satans that are behind these terror attacks.
