Police accused of robbing people

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 11: Police in the guise of anti-smuggling squad allegedly deprived a large number of people of cash and other valuables in the early hours of Thursday.

It is learnt that around a dozen policemen set up a picket on motorway near Sheikhupura interchange. They stopped commuter buses, cars and trucks on the pretext of checking and deprived the people of cash and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Some of the people informed police which claimed to have arrested two of the suspects. They have been identified as Inspector Irfan Mumtaz and Sub-Inspector Mazhar Ehsan.
