Air, train travel comes to an end

LAHORE, Dec 31: The operation of the Samjhota Express from the Lahore Railway Station to the Atari Railway Station came to an end on Monday.

Similarly, a PIA Lahore-Delhi flight (PK-270), carrying 61 passengers, left for Delhi at 3pm. It returned to Lahore at 6:50pm.

It was learnt that PIA would launch an extra Karachi-Lahore- Delhi flight on Tuesday. The special Airbus flight would have Delhi-bound passengers and it would take joining load from Lahore. It would take-off from the Lahore airport at 3pm. The PIA has finalized bookings for the extra flight.

India announced suspension of rail, road and air links between the two countries from Jan 1. The same was announced by Pakistan on Dec 27.

The last Samjhota Express, carrying 771 passengers, left the Lahore Railway Station at 7:30am on Monday. The train returned from Atari to Lahore at 4pm.
