Land erosion by Chashma canal

Published January 1, 2002

MIANWALI, Dec 31: The erosion caused by Chashma Hydro project canal has damaged six tubewells, crops over 100 acres and many houses.

The residents said there had been some erosion by River Sindh earlier but the damage caused by the canal was much greater. They said the matter had been reported to the district government but so far there had been no relief initiative. They urged the Punjab governor to order steps to stop erosion as well as payment of compensation for the losses they had suffered.
