QUETTA: The PML-N-nominated candidate for minority seat, Anita Irfan, was sworn in as member of the Balochistan Assembly on Saturday. Speaker Raheela Hameed Durrani, who presided over the session, administered the oath.

Ms Irfan was nominated by parliamentary leader of the PML-N, Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, as she was second on the minority list after Santosh Kumar was de-seated by the house through a motion last week.

Chief Minister’s adviser Muhammad Khan Lehri had put a motion before the provincial assembly seeking de-seating of Santosh Kumar for not attending sessions continuously without informing the speaker.

The motion was approved without any opposition. The speaker announced his seat vacant as per the rules and procedure of the assembly.
