LAHORE, Dec 7: Chestnut colt, Lucky Winner, proved worth his name when he won as expected the Kamalia Cup, the feature event of the Lahore Winter Meeting run over 1200m at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The seven to two chance Lucky Winner took a flying start and led the field from start-to-finish unchallenged. Defying  a crushing  weight of nine stones four pounds in handicap  he  beat Guys And Dolls by four and a quarter lengths. Gold Rush and Sugar And  Honey completed the frame. In all, 18 contestants faced  the starter in this fifth event of the day, a class V division I and II combined handicap race.

This was Lucky Winner’s third consecutive success under jockey Javed Choudhry, his regular partner in saddle. The  winner is  trained  by Shahzad Ali and owned by  Choudhry  Mumtaz  Ahmed Duga.

Long shot Incognito won the supporting and sixth event run over 1600m in a start-to-finish bid.

Ridden by jockey Khurrum Sheikh Incognito set his own pace and  led a small field of seven runners to win by a  length  from late  rushing Mahnoor, ridden by a novice Qasim Shah. The  40  to 100  favourite  mare Mahnoor was lying sixth as the  race  began. Khurrum  Sheikh  using  the hit and  run  tactics  led  Incognito unchallenged and built up a commanding lead of about ten  lengths mesmerising  the  riders of Mahnoor and Moment To  Moment  (Aamar Parvez),  who  became  confused  by  Incognito’s   extraordinary performance.  Mahnoor finished second a length back.  Moment  To Moment  took  the third position with Dhandhana  completing  the board , a distance further away.

Apprentice rider S. Ammad showed fine skill and determination in the saddle while romping home on long shot Bach View in  the opener.

Jockey  Aamar  Parvez won the racing honours of  the  day  by riding home three winners. He rode home Black House in the second race and then followed it up with a grand success on Bold Venture in the fourth. He completed his treble on Royal Performance,  who gave him an arm-chair ride in the concluding and seventh event of the programme.
