NOWSHERA, Dec 7: A senior civil judge on Saturday released five local leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) on bail.

The leaders, including four district office-bearers of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, had been arrested on charges of attacking the office of the medical superintendent in the district headquarters hospital.

Senior civil judge Rozina Rehman heard arguments of both the sides and released on bail district MMA general secretary Zubair Anjum, deputy general secretary Mufti Hakim Ali Haqqani, city president Haji Mohammad Qasim, general secretary Haji Younas and student leader Misal Khan.

The court observed that the ruling party should rein in its workers and stop them from making disturbances in government institutions.

The five leaders were brought in a procession to the party’s district office.

The workers chanted slogans against the health authorities and vowed to check corruption.
